Dancing Mindfulness with Kristi Ann

Access your body’s healing resources through conscious dance!

Dancing Mindfulness is an expressive arts experience open to everyone regardless of previous experience with dance, yoga, meditation, or spiritual practice. We integrate free-form movement with traditional guided meditation in a community setting unified through themed somatic experiencing. Originally developed by Dr. Jamie Marich, a clinical counselor and expert in traumatic stress studies, Dancing Mindfulness is a naturally intuitive channel for intentionally noticing where we are now, using seven primary elements: breath, sound, body, mind, spirit, story, and fusion.

This trauma-informed wellness practice is accessible to people of all body types and skill levels. There’s no need to worry about choreography or performance. Simply come as you are!

During class, participants will:

  • Learn to pay attention purposefully in the present moment

  • Practice the seven attitudes of mindfulness: nonjudgment, patience, beginner’s mind, nonstriving, trust, acceptance, and letting go

  • Recognize the rhythmic qualities of their breath and heartbeat

  • Discover healing properties in even the most simple of movements

  • Move through a guided triphasic musical journey

  • Express their own personal story through dance

  • Connect with others and have fun!

Come reconnect with the transformative creative power that resides within you.
